What should I wear on a Sunday?

The heartbeat of what kind of team we want to be here at CG Worship is found in our Worship Manifesto.  We start with the why, and evaluate everything that we do (the how), even things as simple as "What should I wear on a Sunday?" One aim in our manifesto is, we choose servanthood over stardom. I believe it is important that the driving factor behind our decision of what clothes we wear on a Sunday morning should always come from a heart posture of servanthood - first to Jesus and then to His church.

It may sound overly simplistic but we need to remember that when we are leading, people are looking at you! Therefore, as leaders on the platform and on camera (if applicable), the things we wear on our body need to be considered. We don't want anything to distract people's attention from being on God and the purpose to why we are there...to worship Him! Dressing and presenting ourselves appropriately as we lead is about Jesus getting all the attention.

Below are some best practices and guidelines our team feels is best for where our church is. If you have any questions you can always ask!

Colors
Best practices - Muted, natural, soft and subdued colors are typically best.
Things to avoid - The bolder the color the harder it is for the camera and more distracting it is to be on the other end of the lens. *Bright whites and blacks can be problems as well.*

Patterns
Best practices | Solid and simple. If you have a pattern make sure that it is bigger but not busy.
Things to avoid | Tiny or complex patterns. Graphic tees and logos are generally not the best. It's best to stay away from floral patterns.

Modesty
Best Practices | Wear something that you are comfortable in and that makes sense for the  worship setting (Student event vs. a Sunday morning service). Remember what scripture says, "in all that we do, do it to the glory of God."
Things to avoid | Clothes that are too tight or too baggy. Worship is engaging so make sure movements don't make something that is normally appropriate, inappropriate.
Things to remember | If you are standing on a stage, people are looking at you from another perspective so we recommend that you stay away from shorts and shorter skirts/dresses.

Makeup (Remember that things always translate differently through a screen.
Food for Thought | On the platform or on camera, the lights can wash out your natural skin tone. Skin can appear oily, reflecting a high shine under lights. Also, things like blemishes may be exemplified under lights and on camera. Less is more in a lot of circumstances but none may cause distraction too. Remember, the goal is not to look "perfect" the goal is to look like yourself!
Best Practices | A little powder or some matte, natural colored makeup is a solid foundation (pun intended ha).
