TUESDAY | APRIL 5

Today is a day where we encourage everyone who calls Center Grove home to fast from food for one meal or even the entire day.

Fasting is an ancient spiritual practice that helps us focus more intently on God, remembering him as our ultimate sustenance. He takes care of all our needs. It is also an opportunity to “starve our flesh,” to break the power of sins, desires, and cravings that so easily trap us. The longer you fast, the more aware you become of the things that we rely daily on. Fasting is not a practice to “get something from God” as much as it is an intense, focused expression of reliance on Him.

If it is unsafe or dangerous for you to fast from food for one meal or the entire day, consider spending time away from another object in your life - like social media, technology, etc. If you choose to fast, consider using the prayer guide below as your ongoing prayer throughout your fasting time. It is helpful to have something planned out to pray for during times such as this.
Consider using the "Prayer with Kingdom Intercession" steps listed below and described in more detail here.  Each day, we will have a different kingdom focus and will offer prompts to guide certain steps related to that day's intention.

Today's Kingdom Focus

- Our nation, state, and leaders -

1 | INVOCATION
Call on God as “the only true God,” the One who is worthy of worship above all else.

2 | ADORATION
Praise God for his worthiness, that He is better than anything we try to replace him with.

3 | CONFESSION
Confession acknowledges sinfulness and discloses personal sin before God, seeking forgiveness and restoration to fellowship with Him.

4 | PETITION
Ask God to become your greatest hope, above any political structure or system. Ask God to spark a revival in our nation, state, and governing leaders. Ask Him to stir this up in a way that He gets all the glory.

5 | SELF-DEDICATION
Self-Dedication involves devoting self to God and the place He gives you to bring Him glory and do others good. Commit your prayers, yourself and your service to Him.

6 | THANKSGIVING
Thank God for being a source of constant hope as the political arena constantly changes.

7 | BLESSING + CLOSE
Blessing is the final expression of praise, devotion and worship concluded with “In Jesus Name, Amen” as your closing confession in Him - “Let it be so, in Jesus according to Your will.”

Family Worship

A similar and simplified model to pray with young kids is called PART | Praise, Admit, Request and Thanksgiving. Use today's kingdom focus of our nation, state and leaders to guide a short prayer time with your children in the morning, during dinner, before bed or even in the car!
