MONDAY | APRIL 3

Follow along with the events of Easter week, leading to the death and resurrection of Jesus. Each day, scripture readings and reflection prompts will guide us to pause and meditate on the reality of Easter.

MONDAY

READ
Mark 11:12-17

PAUSE + REFLECT
  • Just as Jesus was looking for fruit on the tree, he was looking for the “fruit” in the lives of the people of Israel -  yet - the tree didn’t have fruit on it and the people had taken God’s house and made it a “den of robbers”. Reflect on the parallels of these two stories: Jesus cursing the fig tree and Jesus cleansing of the temple.

  • Jesus was cleansing the temple because the “zeal for his father’s house” consumed him. Does your life reflect a similar zeal for your heavenly father’s house?

Family Worship

Each day, we’ve provided a family element for those with younger children (toddler – elementary) that ties into the theme of the adult devotional. Whether it’s in the morning, at mealtime or at bedtime - we encourage you to read, talk, and pray together! We’ve included both scripture and a passage from the Jesus Storybook Bible that goes along with the day’s theme. Choose whichever is best for your family for the daily reading. We’re praying for God to move in the hearts in your home this Easter.

READ ABOUT IT
A fun way to engage kids with scripture is to act it out!

Jesus Storybook Bible: Treasure Hunt (page 250)
Mark 11:15-17

TALK ABOUT IT
Guide discussion and let kids ask their own questions too!

1. Look up the word “zeal” together and try to give examples of when you or your children have been full of zeal for something.
2. Think of something you really, really, REALLY love (like a person, favorite toy or activity). How would it feel if you lost it, couldn’t see that person or couldn’t do that activity anymore? Would you just give up or keep trying to get it back?
3. How does it feel to know that YOU are God’s treasure, that He is full of zeal for you?

PRAY ABOUT IT
Use PART to guide your prayer time and make it your own.
